You may or may not be able to join into sessions while trying to play Halo 2 on Xbox 360. The final result is sure to be worked out through an endless series of patches send through Xbox Live - if Microsoft is able to fix it at all. Miller's 360 never worked at all, and this could potentially happen to anybody. The experience of trying various scenarios - like turning the system off and one again or switching controllers - may, or may not, work. But joining a game proved erratic and frustrating at best. Once you get into a session, the game runs without any noticeable issues. Because the games normally run without any issues on Xbox, and because they're running on Xbox 360s, the BC code, which is stored on your Hard Drive, is the most likely candidate. The technical issues seem to revolve around the backward compatible (BC) code. Several times other players couldn't even see the game session, but that happened democratically - at some point during the session each one of us was unable to join a session. He eventually played split-screen with me, which temporarily solved the problem. He switched the controller, switched the game, switched the cables, TV, player names, what have you. Associate Editor Jon Miller, who used a new retail Xbox 360, was unable to ever get on and play. At one point during the hour-long session, each on of our team members was simply unable to join the session. The important thing to do when playing against people better than you is to create a terribly insulting player name, so when do you do shoot them, you can say, "OOOOH, Pown Master schooled your ass!" Halo 2 on Xbox 360 did deliver its own set of problems. It's just as addicting and Erik Brudvig and Mark Ryan Sallee are still ridiculously good. But the textures all look the same, and the game doesn't seem to run any faster. If you stand around and look at things, you will notice small differences and improvements, such as crisper, sharper looking objects. The game plays exactly the same as it plays on Xbox. We played Beaver Creek and Ivory Tower and we had the full list of maps. We connected four Xbox 30s units and one Xbox. Halo 2 can be played cross platform on Xbox and Xbox 360, it works. Since we had enough new retail units in house, we tested out Halo 2 on our Xbox 360s and connected an Xbox, too via SysLink. Just like all the leaked stories, Halo 2 worked on our Xbox 360 running in 720p and blazing. Continued abuse of our services will cause your IP address to be blocked indefinitely.Guess what? It does.
